TMBG in LA LINCOLN SHOW review!
Well here's another patented WAY overly detailed show review, this one of the Lincoln show at Royce Hall on January 28. Far too many Linnell pictures over at Museum of Idiots as per usual. ( review! ) Current Mood: nostalgic |

re: last night
TMBG at the variety playhouse doing the lincoln show in atlanta last night was FUCKING AWESOME. ive been seeing them at this venue since about 98 and ive never witnessed such a completely satisfying set list. they did not, in fact, play "Lincoln in its entirety" as promised in the concert advertisements. However they made up for it by not skipping any of the songs i really needed to hear (where your eyes dont go, snowball in hell, cowtown, lie still little bottle. the worlds a dress and cage and aquarium would have been nice, but its whatevs...) as well as including loads of other stuff from older albums. we got 3 tracks from john henry in one show, which is a record for me. all in all i think it was the best tmbg show i have ever seen, and now i would like to find a good recording of it. does anyone know how i might go about this? i dont normally feel the need to look for bootlegs after one of their shows, but this was just so spectacular. i need it. here is just one pocket of awesome that made me so happy: Current Mood: happy |

I'm Surprised I Hadn't Seen This Done, Yet
I had a flea in my ear about making this, this evening. Amusingly, "The Morning" is the only one I had to make up. I also like how I spent time looking for things on Facebook, cutting and pasting, et cetera...and then tossing a rather sloppy grey border around the image. If folks want ease of reposting: FaceBook PostTumblr Post |

nnnnnnnnnoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...
Come back, <lj user="lexxy2">! I was just starting to have fun! Can I get some support on this matter from the rest of the community? Who thinks my hilarious doppelganger <lj user="lexxy2"> should come back? l2, if you're reading this, I actually *did* laugh at your caricature-like portrayal of my text-based assholery. "The Lexter II: Erectric Boobaroo" is one of the funniest titles I've ever seen for anything. R.I.P. Edit: does anyone know the tag that apparently replaced the one I was trying to use in this entry? |

Attempted resuscication / spamming
Well, here's another one... Normally I'd think people might consider this spamming, but since this community seems otherwise dead, I figure what I'm doing might actually be helping. TMBG in Portland review!
Well! I just realized that for some reason the review I did of seeing TMBG in Portland back in November didn't get posted here. So um, here's a belated review to gear you up for how AWESOME the third leg is gonna be, I suppose. Pix at Museum of Idiots as always. ( YAY ) Current Mood: okay |

TMBG at the Mohegan Sun - Nov. 25: LINCOLN SHOW Hi, everyone! Last week TMBG played their sixth annual free show at the Mohegan Sun's Wolf's Den, and this time they performed most of the Lincoln album, with the exception of "You'll Miss Me", "The World's Address" and "I've Got a Match". (The following night at the 9:30 Club in DC was also another Lincoln show.) Anyway, I went nuts and took 20 full videos at this show, including every Lincoln song they performed. Here are the links: YouTube playlist | Flickr photos | Setlist and reviews on TMBWAnd I leave you with "Snowball in Hell" below the cut. Enjoy! ( Snowball! ) |

TMBG in Spokane review!
Welllll so I saw TMBG three times earlier this month and am finally in the process of getting the ridiculously long reviews I'd written out in my paper journal typed up. I'm posting the edited-down-a-bit versions here (i.e. with most of the "GODDDDDDDDDDDDD THEN LINNELL WAS SO INSANELY ADORABLE" bits taken out) but if you'd like to see the longer originals you are welcome to check out my Tumblr. Anyway SO, here is the review of the first one, in Spokane on Nov. 6: ( still gets just a BIT long ) Current Mood: cheerful |

Boost yer self confidence.
During an especially rough day I was driving to work and found myself singing along to "Can't Keep Johnny Down" with my own name in place of "Johnny" ("Can't keep Kevin down"). It made me feel better. I know the song may not be completely about "Johnny" being the good guy (We are talking about TMBG, after all), but it felt good either way. |

TMBG in the Classroom
Recently, a friend of mine mentioned that she'd be teaching her class something about ancient Mesopotamia. Being the diligent TMBG fan that I am, I linked her to the video for The Mesopotamians, of course. I fully expected her to sarcastically reply with, " You think They Might Be Giants songs are appropriate for everything, Will!", to which I'd have to nervously reply, " Yes?". But instead... [dramatic pause] I AM TOTALLY SHOWING MY KIDS THAT TOMORROW!! We've talked about everyone except Ashurbanipal. Which was followed up a few days later with: My kids loved that song/video so much! In one group I had to play it five times for them, and they were singing along so loudly that the teacher from next door came over to ask us to quiet down! Then they sang it all through their next period and watched it at home. I've let her know that if she ever covers 1840s American History, I'm all set with two more songs. |
